Flowering Kale

Sometimes known by its botanical name Brassica, this flower is a member of the mustard family and includes other plants such as broccoli and kohlrabi.  Flowering kales have been bred specially for their brightly colored fall foliage and have little value as a food crop.  The plants are very frost tolerant and make excellent additions to fall flowerbeds.  As cut flowers, kale are available year-round and offer unique colors and texture for focal points of arrangements.  As with other cut flowers, be sure to recut their stems and change their water regularly.
